Evaluation
When a new feature is required of a current system, often times vendors
offer software packages that fill the need. Examples include adding reporting,
charts, payment processing, WAP, or GIS capabilities to your application.
Software packages often vary in price, licensing, features, scalability,
support, vendor viability, and other metrics. Syrinx can help you create
clear requirements to determine what you need, and equally important, what you
don't need. We can help you realize and evaluate tradeoffs and risks between
components and vendors.
"Does this component REALLY
do everything I need it to?"
Syrinx can help you evaluate components by prototyping, the most effective method of
determining component viability. Syrinx can then provide estimates on integration
cost and effort. This data can be weighed against building/maintaining
components in-house. This will help you answer these questions:
- Does
our company want to be in the business of building and maintaining
software that performs this function, or are we better off outsourcing it?
- Can
our needs for customization be met by vendors, and how much effort will
that require?
- Are the most important features implemented, and could
we set up a roadmap for having the rest of the features implemented?
Implementation
If you decide to integrate existing components into your system, Syrinx's expert
integrators can help you make it happen. Syrinx has a wealth of experience performing
